There Are No Little Things.

I contemplated the best way to start this post. I mean, how dare you say that there are no little things?

If truly little things don’t exist, or size is irrelevant to circumstances, how do we differentiate between big problems and small problems?

If you watch cartoons, you would have observed that every time an elephant is portrayed, it is shown to be afraid of the mice.

I mean, if something as humongous as an elephant is afraid of something as small as a mouse, something is wrong.

Fun fact: Do you know the elephant can smell danger? It’s true, the elephant can indeed smell a rat [pun intended].

You must have been in a situation where something so irrelevant became the elephant in the room.

Maybe something as basic as being so busy that you forgot to call your girlfriend, or the comma you didn’t put in the scholarship essay you desperately needed.

ā€œI love cooking my family and my dog.ā€

[Just add the commas and it won’t read weird]

The truth is, you think that there are little things, but that thought is a myth. Small things quickly become big things when you ignore them; it’s a domino effect that causes catastrophic scenarios.

If you really think about this, you’ll see life differently.

After several mistakes, it begins to make sense, and because they are not easily visible, they can be either overlooked, underestimated, or even ignored as a priority.

I made you a list on how to shield you from the ā€˜iceberg’ of ā€˜little things’ so you don’t get caught unawares like the crew of the Titanic.

HOW TO AVOID THE TRAP OF ā€˜LITTLE THINGS’

Think about the consequences:
You need to develop an awareness to notice small details and potential issues before they become bigger problems.

It’s easier said than done, true. However, you know the things you tag as little, we do it all the time.

Sometimes, our procrastination gets accompanied by disaster. Sometimes, they do not. Nevertheless, you need to intentionally be aware and form the habit of dotting I’s and crossing T’s.

Weigh every task as equals:
The truth is, nobody wants to do the ā€˜little thing’ first. It’s so small, it can be let to be done later, then you forget.

You see, when you write an exam, you are advised to attempt the questions you know first, before coming around to attempt the difficult tasks. Did your dad/mum ever tell you that?

You don’t have to prioritise the little tasks for later. You can do that first and get it over with, but ā€˜laziness’ always gets the best of us. Don’t wait till it affects you, when you can avoid it.

Conduct self-assessments:
If you follow the first two points, you won’t have a problem. Remember, this is something you already know, but you just can’t get yourself to do. That’s why the last point is of great importance.

You should set aside time for reviews in various aspects of life and learn from past errors to create better approaches so you can pay more attention to details and handle the ā€˜little things’ better.

  1. I appreciate the balance and fairness in The writing, like a perfect partner who always keeps things interesting. Great job!

  2. Working in the professional field and being an entrepreneur, I have seen the two sides of how a small detail can ruin all your hard work. Timely piece, thanks for sharing I definitely got value.
